Firewall test: outbound access |
| |
| |
This test checks whether My Remote Files can create outgoing connection. It is necessary for normal work and for all the rest tests. Usually this test passes. If it fails, but you have access to the Internet (from web browser, for example), check your firewall.

Firewall test: inbound access |
| |
| |
This test checks whether your firewall blocks (or not) incoming connections. If it fails:
1. Check firewall (if any). Inbound access to My Remote Files should be opened from any IP addresses.
2. If you have Windows XP SP2, remember whether it asked you (at first time when you started server) to block some program features. If you said "Yes", open Control panel->Windows firewall, switch to ‘Exceptions’ tab, find mserverapp.exe and/or mserver.exe and check them. Or use ‘Add program’ button to add these files, located in the directory where the program is installed to (by default, C:\Program Files\My Remote Files). Try again. |

- set up port forwarding to this IP address. Refer to your hardware documentation for additional information. You may also visit www.portforward.com for instructions to some network routers (until "My Remote Files" is not added to their application list, use settings for "HTTPS"). |

Note. For router users only! If you have a network router, you may be confronted with problems with testing My Remote Files from web browser on the local PC. Even if all tests are successful, you may fail to connect to the program using URL of login page, shown in it. Try new URL, obtained from computer IP field. For example, URL of login page is ‘https://123.45.67.89’ and computer IP is ‘192.168.1.2’. To connect to the program from local PC (where My Remote Files is running), type ‘https://192.168.1.2’ in address bar of your web browser. But to connect to the program from remote PC, use ‘https://123.45.67.89’ as suggested by My Remote Files. |
