It is in use of My Remote Files program. My Remote Files is a https online server that provides access to files and folders on PC where it is running. As a web server it doesn’t require installing any software on remote computer (except browser, of course). It goes with all web pages necessary to organize interaction with remote user.
My Remote Files program uses https secure connection, so it is much more protected than FTP connection. It has authorization mechanism based on user name, password and optionally IP address. The program allows several simultaneous connections with one user name and different access to different folders for different users.
My Remote Files has one more advantage that may not be visible at first sight. Let’s imaging. You create an online file archive. And for evolution purposes you allow upload files to your server. Then if someone decides to corrupt your file archive by uploading wrong file with the same name as existing, program will save new one with different name. By such easy way your file archive will be protect from undesired doings of its users. Compare it with FTP server.
And, of course, possibility of customization of server interface should be mentioned here. All files that the program uses to communicate with remote user are stored in ‘serverroot’ subfolder of the folder where it is installed to. They can be safely replaced by your ones, keeping special tags (beginning and ending at %) in new documents. In addition, you can skip (if you want) authorization procedure by providing direct link to authorization script with user name and password fields fulfilled.
These are the necessary basics to work with My Remote Files. Beside these, the program can track connections, keep log file, block listed IPs. My Remote Files is regularly improved and set of additional features is continuously enlarged.
